The Southern Coastcare Association of Tasmania is a non profit, incorporated organisation representing around 40 groups in southern Tasmania from Dover to Swansea to Port Arthur. As an umbrella organisation SCAT provides member representation and a strong community voice into policy changes and program development. SCAT coordinates fun and informative training and networking opportunities such as the Coastcare Roadtrip. Monthly meetings provide an opportunity for members to raise issues. Our monthly newsletter informs Coastcare groups of policy changes, upcoming events, group activities and funding opportunities. The Southern Coastcare Association of Tasmania would like to acknowledge the efforts of Luke Temby and Nepelle Crane in getting the original website off the ground. We would also like to acknowledge the support of Doodlefish Web Design in sponsoring our new website The Southern Coastcare Association of Tasmania appreciates the support of staff from State Government in particular the Coastal and Marine Branch. BACKGROUND SCAT formed in September 2003 and supports Coastcare groups by providing opportunities and resources for groups and other interested individuals to participate in coastal management. SCAT builds healthy partnerships with local and state government and other community organisations such as Conservation Volunteers Australia, NRM South, Parks and Wildlife Service, Coastal and Marine Branch (DPIPWE), Tasmanian Landcare Association, Tasmanian Conservation Trust and Birds Tasmania. |
