SCAT small grants

Information for applicants

The “SCAT Grant” is a small grants scheme managed by the Southern Coastcare Association of Tasmania to provide support and/or emergency funding for small projects proposed by SCAT members. Grants are awarded for activities to the value of $350 or up to $500 in special circumstances.

Who can apply?

Only current financial members of SCAT are eligible to apply.

What will be funded?

Projects should contribute to at least one of the following SCAT goals:

Provide opportunities or resources for community participation in coastal management

Raise awareness of coastal issues.

When to apply?

SCAT members can apply for funds at any time

At least two rounds will be advertised each year to SCAT members through our newsletter and email network.

Each year one special educational / awareness raising round will be announced as the ‘Veronica Thorp Coastcare Memorial Grant’ in memory of Veronica Thorp who was a passionate Coastcarer and champion of coastal education.

How to apply?

Applicants must complete the Small Grants application form available on the SCAT website, or from the Administration Officer, James Burke.

A hard copy of the application form, including signature and receipts (if relevant) should be submitted to the Administration Officer.

What happens to your application once it is submitted?

Applications are assessed and ranked by a SCAT grant sub committee according to how they satisfy the criteria outlined on the application form.

Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email or phone and in writing within 6 weeks of the application being received.

Funds must be acquitted within 3 months of the money being granted. The SCAT feedback and acquittal form must be used to acquit. Any left over funds must be returned to SCAT. An article for the SCAT newsletter about your project and outcomes must be included with your acquittal.
